rob berger dnc vine cdrs > ultraplex > eac > wav > shn;, this is an upgraded version of the kaslow and todd aud source of 8/6 and more of the 8/5 set that previously circulated. several months ago i borrowed buddy (and spiritual advisor) jerry moore's 1st gen 10.5" reel of these two riders sets with the best intentions of transferring them. after 4 seconds of playback it was clear to me that this one was in need of a good baking. i sent the reel off to my brother from another mother john jay hance (pcrp)and asked him to work his magic. well, it's true folks. jj is a master baker of the highest magnitude. he shaked, he baked, and transfered the reel for us and the results are remarkable. the previously circulating copy is one ofthe finest aud's of the period in my opinion, but i believe this to be a noteworthy upgrade. neither source has a complete 8/5 set but thankfully they compliment each other giving us about two thirds of the show. i believe there is still about a half hour missing from it's start., aud reel master (sony ecm 22p's>sony tc-770 7" open reel, no nr)>10.5" 1/4 track reel @ 3.75 ips, no nr>cdr, except where noted* = same source master>reel>reel, my sincere thanks extended to jerry (garcia), jerry (moore), jj hance, johnny jht rider and especially mr.'s kaslow and todd for such a fine recording.; disc one 60:01, Workingman's Blues *, I Don't Know You *, Lochinvar *, Down In The Boondocks *, Julie *, Henry *, Sailin' *, Glendale Train*, Fair Chance To Know, Lodi, Truck Drivin' Man, Last Lonely Eagle, Louisiana Lady, Honky Tonk Women   vine seed notes has one cdr for 8/5/71 but came with two cdrs; d2 is just a repeat of last tracks of d1 and is a close eac match on d2t2-6; d2t1 looks the same but has 4 more seconds of silence at the beginning***

see grateful dead 11/20/71; label: big sur records catalogno: bsr007/8/9; also nrps A-89271 seems derived from this bootleg based on wav and spectral view and track timings except that has had a mini-disk generation added to it and is lossy; however I was not able to hear much difference in sound between the two; this seems to be a continuous recording from Last Lonely Eagle to Willie & the Hand Jive with some band talking and tuning in between and cuts off at end of song; 89271 has a cut between those songs and willie and the hand jive seems to be from a different show than this as it is missing the between song band chatter, is 45 seconds longer in music, guitars end the song differently, and has farewell marmaduke talk of "thank you folks good evening we'll see you later"; the 89271 version of the song is higher sound quality than all the previous songs on 89271 and also all those on the bootleg; I was unable to match it to another recording from 11/71 to 12/71; after song talk matched to 12/20/71 but not the ending guitars; so need this bootleg plus 89271 for the extra willie and the hand jive
